Elizabeth “Liz” Ribas, BS. MS
Liz joined the Anne Arundel Conflict Resolution Center (AACRC) in 1999 as Training Director. Here she developed and conducted various trainings on a wide-array of conflict resolution skills including a basic mediator training course. She has trained over 140 individuals as mediators. As an Anderson & Anderson Certified Anger Management Facilitator, she has developed and continues to teach the AACRC’s well-attended Anger Management Program.
Both during her tenure with the AACRC and now as a volunteer, Liz has mediated cases involving workplace, family, divorce and numerous community issues. She credits this diversity of experience with her ability to be an effective and intuitive mediator. Liz has received over 200 hours of mediator training, including advance skill training.
Liz has been certified as a mediator by the Maryland Council for Dispute Resolution and has been awarded advance workplace certification by the nationally recognized Mediation Training International (MTI.) She holds a Master’s Degree from the University of Baltimore in Applied Psychology with a concentration in Conflict Resolution.
She is a member of the Association for Conflict Resolution and the Maryland Council for Dispute Resolution. Liz sits on the Mediator Excellence Council’s Training Task Force and on the Training Committee for the Maryland Association of Community Mediation Centers.
Liz began her career as a social worker and teacher. She then proceeded to move into sales, marketing and motivational training. She proudly formed The Panache Group, Inc. with little more than a van and $2000. Under her leadership, it was transformed into a half-million dollar firm with 13 employees. Thanks to Liz’s dynamic and lively training style, business aptitude and strong work ethic, it went on to thrive for the next 14 years before Liz’s departure to pursue a career in conflict resolution.
Her diverse background in psychology, social work, teaching, business management, program development, marketing and public speaking has been a natural platform for Liz’s study of how conflict affects all areas of business and personal life.
“I believe that mediation and the use of mediation skills in everyday life can draw people into a safe and neutral atmosphere in which the initial problems can be approached from a fresh perspective.”
